Call for Applications: Domestic Market Access Support Programme for Africa's Travel Indaba 2024

The Department of Tourism is pleased to announce the opportunity for eligible tourism enterprises to apply for support under the Domestic Market Access Support Programme (DMASP) to participate in the Hidden Gems Pavilion at Africa’s Travel Indaba 2024.

The application deadline is 26 January 2024.

Africa’s Travel Indaba is a premier tourism marketing platform, recognized as one of the top three events globally in its category. The event showcases a diverse range of Africa’s best tourism products, drawing international buyers and media from around the world.

The Hidden Gems Pavilion provides a dedicated platform for small tourism enterprises to showcase their products and services to buyers attending Africa’s Travel Indaba.

Eligibility Criteria for DMASP: To be eligible for support under DMASP, prospective applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered legal entity in South Africa.
  • Majority South African-owned inbound tourism enterprise with an annual turnover not exceeding R5 million.
  • In operation for at least one calendar year.
  • Has not participated or exhibited at an international tourism trade platform before.
  • Tax compliant according to the regulations of the South African Revenue Service.
  • Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME) in line with and compliant with the Amended Tourism B-BBEE sector codes.
  • Appropriately insured through insurance cover related to the relevant tourism sub-sector.

Targeted Sectors: The DMASP is particularly aimed at supporting small enterprises in the following sectors:

  • Accommodation sector (formally serviced accommodation, guest accommodation, self-catering, etc.).
  • Travel and related services (inbound tour operators, Destination Marketing Companies, etc.).
  • Hospitality and related services (conference venues not attached to hotels, attractions).
