“The evening promises to be a delight for the whole family and a super opportunity for Nelson Mandela Bay’s residents to enjoy the stunning, natural surrounds of Settlers Park” said Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism (NMBT) CEO Mandlakazi Skefile.
The evening is being hosted by the Baakens Valley Programme, which enjoys the support of NMBT, the Wildlife Society of South Africa’s (WESSA) Walk Safe Campaign, and the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.
Walk Safe Campaign project co-ordinator David Franklin said the South African Police mounted unit, as well as Baakens Valley Programme security rangers and a medic would be in attendance.
“Last year’s Carols by Candlelight evening was a great success with nearly 300 people attending,” said Franklin.
“People can bring along their picnic baskets, chairs, blankets and candles and join in with singing carols along with the Salvation Army Brass Band and vocalist Niqui Cloete-Barrass,” said Skefile.
The opening prayer will be given by Rev Bevan Sylvester of St John’s Methodist Church.
The service will be held this Saturday - December 5 - from 7pm until 9pm. No alcohol or open fires will be allowed. There will be no entry charge however the right of admission is reserved.
