CHARITY AT WORK DURING WSB EAST CAPE POLY CHALLENGE
The R100 000 East Cape Poly Challenge 1200 to be run on Easter Monday, March 28, at Fairview has attracted a huge and quality entry.
This new race forms the first leg of the R600,000 World Sports Betting (WSB) East Cape Poly Challenge series and declarations are due on Tuesday March 22.
WSB have added to the excitement of the day by offering on course presenters Nadine Rapson and Deez Dyanand R5000 each to bet with. The pair will be able to win up to R100,000 and the proceeds will be paid to the East Cape Horse Care Unit (HCU). Even if they lose their betting money, WSB will pay a minimum of R10,000 to the HCU.
The polytrack has been of great benefit to East Cape racing and has saved many rain affected meetings from cancellation.
It has also given a new lease of life to some horses who love the surface.
The Eastern Cape Poly Challenge will now offer the opportunity to sort out beyond argument which horses are the Poly Champions.
Among the WSB East Cape Poly Challenge 1200 entries are Gr 1-winning sprinter Copper Parade, and other top Port Elizabeth sprinters like Vauclair, Unannounced, The West Is Wide and Villa Del Largo as well as an exciting trio of potential Cape Town raiders in the form of the Justin Snaith-trained Harry Lime, the Glen Kotzen-trained filly Double Whammy and the Mike Bass-trained Sail For Gold. Also among the entries are versatile types capable of going for all three legs of the challenge. They include local hopes Gogetthesheriff, Distinguished and Russian Mig and the potential raiders Double Whammy and Sail For Gold also fall into the versatile bracket. Gogetthesheriff was the East Cape Polytrack Horse Of The Year last season and has won three of his five races this season from distances of 1400-1800m.
The second leg of the challenge is The R100 000 WSB East Cape Poly Challenge 1400 on Monday April 18 and the final leg is the R100 000 WSB East Cape
