COLLECTORS’ FAYRE BACK IN THE BAY
Passionate collectors and pickers of all persuasions will again discover sought-after items to add to their treasures when [con]fuze 2.0 hits Port Elizabeth at Walmer Park Shopping Centre on March 23, 24 and 25.
[con]fuze 2.0, for those that do not know, is a vintage, retro, geek, collectibles, cosplay and hobbies fayre an event that promises to again fuse an eclectic mix of intertwined interests, designed to attract young and old.
According to organisers Elsje Smuts and Craig Pannell, last years’ [con]fuze was such a success that the event will now happen twice per year at Walmer Park Shopping Centre. Smuts said that “visitors just loved the mix of products on display and for sale and [con]fuze 2.0 will again create an authentic platform for young and old to share in vastly different yet connected experiences and interests.”
As before, the quality of stalls on offer will be very high, with national exhibitors including steampunk designer Lynette Penny, Johannesburg-based graphic artist Mel Dixon and Cape Town based Awali Comics all expected to be in Port Elizabeth for the event.
Added to these will be displays and vendors of ‘traditional’ collections, such as vintage cars, rugs, stamps and antique jewellery, modern and vintage TV games and comics, antiques, handmade geek jewellery, cosplay, and comic and graphic art. Other collectibles on display and for sale would include coins and medals, books and photographs, as well as Star Wars, Coca-Cola, and garage-related memorabilia.
On the toy side, [con]fuze 2.0 will have everything from model cars and trains to Meccano and Lego, handmade ragdolls, action figures, rocking horses and vintage tinplate toys. For those interested in handcrafted items, the line-up features handmade knives and pens, leather goods, hand-knitted items and glasswork.
Leanka Laubscher School of Dance will entertain the crowds and Plan-G gaming will be there in full force with an E-Sports event not to be missed.
Pannell said the interest in the event from the Bay’s thousands of collectors, hobbyists, geeks and cosplayers has again been very good. “It all bodes well for hobbyists, collectors, geeks and the like in Port Elizabeth. We are seeing an ever increasing number of people thoroughly enjoying these collector and eclectic events.”
A limited number of spaces are still available for prospective stallholders and stringent selection criteria would apply.
