COMPANIES SET TO DO BATTLE

11 June 2014

The Investec Night Relay Series returns to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday evening for Round 2 with over 100 teams expected to take part.

The Series comprises of 4 rounds this year and after a most successful start last month, Thursday nights action is expected to be dominated by the super fit teams from Transnet who enjoyed impressive wins in both the Men's and Mixed categories last month. Whether they can retain their position remains to be seen as the defending Series champions from Gamble Pharmacy are a team not to be underestimated and will be determined to make a comeback after the round 1 dethroning.

Naming sponsors, Investec, have several top teams entered this year and will be keen to step back onto the winning podium this week, particularly in the Ladies and Mixed team categories where they placed 1st and 2nd respectively. The ladies teams from Wimpy and Access Management will also be out to try and keep inside of the medals but can expect tough competition from the ladies at PW Harvey.
In the walking category, the social BWB Dream Team achieved a massive win last month and will be hard to beat in their current form with the Rawstron family and the walkers from Whitfield Fintax certain to not give up the chase.

"We are anticipating another great turnout for Round 2 with good weather predicted for Thursday night," said Mike Zoetmulder of Zports. "The Investec Night Relay offers companies a great team building opportunity in the quiet winter months and also affords us the opportunity to support Kamvalethu, the only drop in centre for street kids in Port Elizabeth, situated just down the road from the Stadium."

Thursday night’s event starts at 6pm with teams registering at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium from 4.30pm. Prize giving takes place at 8.30pm with R1,000 cash up for grabs in the lucky draws and BOS refreshment for all participants.
