COOKE LEADS SUMMER TRI SERIES

18 year old Keegan Cooke crossing the finish line to win Round 1 on Sunday morning at Pollok Beach.

Young Keegan Cooke took advantage of the tough conditions to take the lead in the 2015 About IT Triathlon Summer Series in Port Elizabeth on Sunday morning with a great win in this annual December triathlon Series.

Despite hard rains overnight and a strong South Westerly wind throughout the race, the 18 year old blitzed into the lead during the run leg to win in a time of 1hr 10min and 8 seconds from Ross Helliwell (1hr10m25s) and Gawie Henning (1hr10m41s) whilst 8 times undefeated ladies Series champion Liza Kingston got her Series defence off to a great start, winning in a time of 1hr 20min 11sec from Genelle van der Riet and Amore Strauss.

Eastern Province Triathlon's Triathlon Summer Series is an annual favourite amongst triathletes from around the country and this year race organisers, Zsports Events NPC, have extended the Series to a 4-race Series with the 2nd round taking place on Wednesday morning at Pollok Beach followed by round 3 on Sunday 20th December before concluding on Saturday 26th December at Port St Francis, an event which usually attracts around 300 entries.
