Ebubeleni Festival 11th Year Celebrations Main Event & Gqeberha New Year's Day Picnic

Ebubeleni Festival™ is produced and themed as an outdoor music festival with a picnic feel and is hosted annually on the last weekend of the year in Nelson Mandela Bay. This year the event will take place on Friday 30 December. The positioning of this event at the end of the year provides homecoming entertainment to all those that work and study far in big cities like Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban. The festival attracts festinos from all over the country who trek down to Gqeberha to attend the festival. Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium eagerly awaits hosting this festival where the producers of Ebubeleni always surprise their fans and sponsors with state-of-the-art production which vary from year to year.

This year the festival will be celebrating 11 years of bringing popular national and local artists to this event. Over the 10 years of Ebubeleni’s existence the festival can pride itself for contributing immensely to the economy of the City and Province through visitors attending the event increasing tourism numbers, creating temporary jobs and the use of event service providers, providing a platform for local artists to showcase their talents and earn some money whilst bringing entertainment to the people of the Bay during festive season.

The Ebubeleni Festival™ forms part of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s annual Summer Season Programme and is the only long-standing annual cultural flagship event in Nelson Mandela Bay. Ebubeleni’s main event is the biggest one-day festival in the Eastern Cape which attracts over 27 000 revelers.

Although the past two years of the pandemic drastically impacted negatively on the Arts, Culture and Events industry, the organisers managed to keep the brand alive, created employment, provided a platform for local artist and continued to contribute to the economy of the city by hosting small monthly events which were a build-up towards the main event in December. The ever-great artist line up which comprises of award-winning national artists contribute a great deal in the “Sold Out” status that the festival enjoys.

This year the artist line-up boasts the country’s crème de la crème; Gqeberha born Zonke, Ami Faku, Vusi Nova and Phinda; Makhadzi; Msaki; Mandisi Dyantyis Nomfundo Moh; Musa Keys; K.O and 10 local artists.
