Events strategy for NMB gains momentum
Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism (NMBT) hosted an Events Tourism workshop bringing together various experts in the industry with the objective to develop relations with various product owners, service providers and events coordinators in order to establish the most effective and mutually beneficial events strategy for Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB). The workshop also acted as an education and training tool with presentations on what constitutes a successful events plan. Attendees also had the opportunity to share and learn from one another’s experiences.

“We realised that NMB is the ideal destination for events and conferencing, but that the City lacked a creative and an effective strategy. The input from the various stakeholders is key in putting together the strategy as these are the people who will essentially execute the events. NMBT was delighted to see how well the workshop was attended, proving that the people in the Bay are passionate about working together to grow tourism as an industry,” said Fezekile Tshiwula, CEO of NMBT.

The workshop created a platform from where attendees could raise their concerns and vital tools could be put in place to measure the social and economic impact of events on NMB.

The importance for players in the industry to partner and work towards marketing NMB more holistically was what brought upon the workshop. One of the tools already in place is the NMBT website events calendar which should be used as a guide to ensure that events are staged timeously in order for both the city as well as individuals to reap the maximum benefits.
