EXPERIENCE GERMAN CUISINE AT THE BAYSIDE PANTRY IN OCTOBER
True to tradition, The Boardwalk’s Bayside Pantry brings to life the tastes and aromas of German cuisine during the month of October. The scrumptious selection of authentic German dishes has been put together with the invaluable input of The Boardwalk Casino Executive Chef Daya Naidoo.
From start to finish, the buffet is a food explorer’s delight. To start, there is a selection of traditional German soups such as Beetenbarsch (Beetroot Soup), Lentil and Vienna soup served with Potato Rostis and Dips. The salad station features Sliced German Beet Root Salad; Lauwarmer Kartoffel Salad (German styled potato salad); Wurstsalat (cold meat salad) and Kraut Salat Mit Speck (cabbage and bacon salad); Geflugle Sulze (poultry terrine) and Pickled Ox tongue with Red Onions and Pickled Vegetables. The dedicated Deutshes Allerlei Station offers authentic delights like Krautwickeln (mince wrapped in cabbage); Spicy Kidney Bean and Bratwurst Chili and Ox Liver Berliner Art.
There are also entire stations featuring German stir fries; steaks and Wurstels, and hot pots, with tasty choices such as Brat Wurst; Pork Schnitzel; Schweine Braten (roasted pork) and Bavarian Roasted Chicken; Wild Schweine Ragout (wild pork ragout); Brandenburg Lamb Stew (lamb stew with potato and green beans); Lammeintopf (lamb stew with root vegetables) and Bier Fleish (beef bier casserole) amongst others.
German-inspired sweet treats include Bayerishe Crème (traditional Bavarian crème); Schwarzwalder Kirsch Torte (black forest cake); German Chocolate Bombs; Auszogene (Bavarian style doughnuts); Apple strudel and Prinzregenten Torte (traditional German cake).
