FAIRVIEW WELCOMES PE’S HIP AND HAPPENING
On Saturday, 11 April Fairview Racecourse hosted what promises to be the first of many, unusual, outdoor dining experiences. Making use of the inside area of the “old grand stand”, an exquisite dinner was held for 60 VIP guests.
The host of the evening was well known personality and socialite, Theo Klaas, who was assisted by Three Fat Fish, Access Racing and Fairview Racecourse. Well known personalities in Nelson Mandela Bay rubbed shoulders in a most unusual setting of open spaces, with rough and raw plaster work, tractors, trailers, and piles of teft. Added to the mix, was Warlord and Spin, two real life horses stabled in the area, who basked in all the attention lavished on them by the surprised and excited guests.
The evening’s sumptuous menu included an Oak smoked tomato, coriander & lime Ceviche Line-Fish, crunchy battered prawns, Avo Mousse and a pickled ginger gel. This was followed by Grilled and Herb crusted Beef Fillet, garlic rubbed potato fondant, butter flazed organic root vegetables, wild mushroom puree and a Port & Merlot jus. To end off the dining experience, a vanilla bean crème brulee, hazelnut brittle crumble, rum poached caramel apple compote and apple dust popping candy was served.
The smoky voice of lounge and jazz singer Lelanie, added the perfect mix to the sultry evening, while the Bartenders’ Workshop provided a spectacle display of flames and bottles.
