Full house at Spec-Savers IRONMAN South Africa weekend events
20 March 2013
By 15 March the Pritt IRONKIDS South Africa and Vodacom Corporate Triathlon Challenge events were already sold out - two weeks before entries officially close.
This year will see approximately 1000 registered entrants in the fourth consecutive sold-out Pritt IRONKIDS South Africa event, as well as over 1800 total registered entrants for the Vodacom Corporate Triathlon Challenge.
The Pritt IRONKIDS South Africa will take place on Saturday 13 April 2013, commencing at 12h00 at the MacArthur Pool & Leisure Centre. Children between the ages of 6 and 9 years will swim a distance of 60m and run a distance of 1.2km, while 10-13 year-olds will swim 100m and run 2km. No times are taken, as the heart of this event is about having fun and making each child feel like they are a winner. A special first wave will allow disabled children to participate in the event and cross the IRONKIDS finish line.
This Vodacom Corporate Triathlon Challenge powered by Algoa FM will be on Saturday 13 April 2013. Commencing at 07h50, individuals, corporate hopefuls and scholars racing in teams of two or three, will participate in a 380m swim, 18km bike and 4.2km run – the equivalent of 10 per cent of the full IRONMAN distance.
Entries are still open for IRON GIRL South Africa, the 8.5km ladies-only Fun Run to be held on Friday 12 April 2013, starting from Hobie Beach at 16h00. This year marks the third consecutive year of IRON GIRL South Africa in Port Elizabeth, in which individuals of 14 years and older, along with mother-daughter teams, will be running or walking their way to the finish line. With close to 1000 entrants already registered, and a maximum field of 1500 entrants available, ladies are encouraged to register soon before entries close on 29 March 2013.
