A fan-filled exhibition celebrating the effort and imagination of soccer fans from all around the African continent. The exhibition, which will be up for the duration of the AFCON tournament, includes a bright banner of images and makarabas produced by local artists and learners.
100 SHADES OF GREY

From the sharp black and white contrast of linocuts to soft tones of lithographs, this exhibition explores the use of monotones in a selection of work from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum’s Permanent Collection. Works on display will include prints, photographs and a white plaster body mould by the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum Biennial Exhibition and Award 2008 winner, Christine Maree.

In the 19th Century, Europeans looked on Africa as a frontier ripe for exploration and exploitation. The Eastern Cape saw it fair share of naturalists, missionaries, soldiers and businessmen who made a painted record of their discoveries to send back “Home”. These artworks show us the landscape of this time as seen through their eyes.
