We’re excited to announce that The Herald Cycle Tour returns in February 2026, and this year marks a very special milestone — the 40th anniversary of this iconic cycling event.
Set against the breathtaking coastline of Nelson Mandela Bay, the 2026 Herald Cycle Tour promises an elevated experience for both riders and spectators. From exhilarating rides to unforgettable moments shared with family and friends, this anniversary edition is shaping up to be our biggest and best yet.

Important Road Closure Information
The staging of a major event requires the support and understanding of the local community. To ensure the safety of all participants and the smooth running of the event, please take note of the following arrangements:

Marine Drive Closure
Marine Drive (between 8th Avenue and 9th Avenue) will be closed on both sides of the road from 18h00 on Saturday, 14 February 2026, until 14h30 on Sunday, 15 February 2026.
Residential access will be facilitated by Traffic Officials and Route Marshals throughout this period. -
Temporary Fencing
Fencing will be erected along the seaside grass verge of Marine Drive to prevent pedestrian movement in front of cyclists and to protect garden beds. -
Early Morning Activity
Please note there will be an early start on race day, with music and announcements beginning from approximately 05h00. -
Rolling Road Closures
A rolling road closure system will be implemented along the route as cyclists progress through the course. This system has been endorsed by the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and will be enforced by the Traffic Department together with Route Marshals.
Estimated road closure and reopening times will vary by area.
Please refer to the attached road closure map for detailed closure times and designated crossover points.
Community Support & Contact Information
A fully operational Race Operations Centre will be based at Pollok Beach, with the support of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Traffic Department, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the event runs smoothly.
