HORSERACING AND FAMILY FUN COMES TO FAIRVIEW RACECOURSE

Sunday 15 May sees the World Sports Betting East Cape Derby come to Fairview Racecourse in Port Elizabeth in what will undoubtedly be a bumper family day out. Racegoers will be treated to great horseracing as well as a host of entertainment and competitions throughout the day.

 

The two main races, the WSB EC Derby (Gr3) over 2400m and the Epol Dahlia Plate (L) over 1200m include  prize money of R 350 000 and R 150 000 respectively.

 

A traditional marimba band will open the race day prior to the running of the Grooms race and Baywest Mall shopping voucher give-aways will be drawn throughout the day for lucky racing fans.

 

Food stalls at Fairview on the day will be selling a host of delicious refreshments.

 

For those interested in more formal hospitality options, the HB Christian Room will be hosting a delicious buffet luncheon for R 250 per person, which also includes a complimentary welcome gift and Computaform.

The dress code is formal and the theme is Run of the Roses.

 

 “Jenni Gault International Jewellery Design” will be hosting a display area and will be awarding lucky draw vouchers as well as a prize for the best dressed lady. Adding to the creative flair of the day will be a flower arrangement competition by local florists with the arrangements being auctioned off at each table and the proceeds going to Community Chest.

 

There will also be a Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) fashion show and design competition both in front of the grandstand as well as in the HB Christian Room with the winning student and two runners-up winning prizes to the value of R20 000. The winner of the Competition will also receive a R1 000 “Jenni Gault International Jewellery Design” voucher.

 

Algoa FM will be broadcasting live from the racecourse between 09H00 and 12H00.

 

For the kids, there will be an adventure and activities area which includes a jumping castle, target shooting, sky runners, face painting, pony rides and a range of giant games such as pick-up sticks, jenga, snakes and ladders and dominoes – a guarantee of hours of fun come raceday.

 

To add even more character to an already bumper day, the Morris Minor Club will be there to showcase these truly unique vehicles.
