Iron Girl South Africa East London entries now open!
04 November 2011
Nearly 400 women hit the Esplanade this year and all had a wonderful time in an event that formed the curtain raiser to the main event, the Spec-Savers Ironman 70.3 South Africa the following day. Iron Girl South Africa is a 9.2km fun run along the Esplanade and is done in a fantastic spirit and atmosphere.
The event is for anyone and everyone provided that they’re female as men in drag are strictly prohibited. Athletes can tackle the race either individually or as part of a mother-daughter team. Mother-daughter team members run individually and their times will be combined for an overall team time.
The top three in each age category will receive great prizes which will be handed out at the Iron Girl Awards Ceremony directly after the race. Each entrant receives a quality Iron Girl South Africa t-shirt and every finisher receives a unique Iron Girl medal and certificate.
The popularity of the event continues to grow as the event went on to make its debut in Port Elizabeth as part of the Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa race weekend. Apart from the two South African events, Iron Girl is already a prominent fixture both in Europe and in the USA making it one of the biggest women-only race brands on the planet.
