Join cycle tour pre-rides

ORGANISERS of The Herald VW Cycle Tour are inviting road and mountain bike participants to wrap up their race preparations with pre-rides on Sunday, January 30.

Former Springbok cyclist Wayne Pheiffer and the race’s official mechanic Garth Botha will guide a group along the 105-kilometre route in Port Elizabeth.

Support vehicles will follow the riders, who will be departing from Hobie Beach at 6am.

At Addo, pre-rides will take place on the 65km and 40km mountain bike courses. Riders will unfortunately have to wait until race day to cover the 10km section through Addo Elephant National Park, which will be out of bounds this weekend.

Quad bikes will lead the way and offer a support service. There will also be a watering point to help riders beat the Addo heat.

The mountain bike pre-rides depart from the Addo Polo Club at 7am.
