Karyn White and SA’s own unite for Divas 2018
Divas 2018 shimmies to Port Elizabeth for a one night only concert at The Boardwalk International Convention Centre on 4 August 2018. This year’s show features international, award winning diva, Karyn White as well as South Africa’s own diva, Sasha Lee Davids and vivacious singing duo, G&T.
Brought to South Africa for Divas 2018, Karyn White etched her name music history with her smash hit song, the female anthem, “Superwoman”. That song made international waves, selling over a million units, being certified Gold and named the Billboard R&B Song of the Year in 1989.
More recently, White has released a new movie and soundtrack, Gale &The Storm, a story loosely based on Karyn's life and manager Jay King, legendary music producer and founder of Grammy award winning group Club Nouveau. The movie's synopsis revolves around a revolutionary music producer who links up with a legendary soul singer and tries to convince her to sing again. White executive produced, co-wrote and starred in the film.
The soundtrack is a brilliant fusion of cosmic funk, soul, rock and R&B. White recorded the songs in a record breaking 2.5 days while filming the movie in a 7-day period. White delivers an array of fiery and soulful melodies while belting out every note and inflection with power White will take the listener back to the good ole days of 70s and 80s.
Sasha Lee Davids was the 2009 co-winner of SA Idols 5. She is also the winner of the 2008 reality TV show Matrix 2. She released her debut album, Sasha-Lee and had the opportunity to work with Jamie Jones, lead singer of the Grammy Award winning group All-4-One, on a track entitled, “Before You”. Sasha Lee has recently performed in a variety of shows including Divas, Duets, Kaapse Jol, her very own show Breaking Free at the Baxter Theatre and numerous tours throughout South Africa.
Female duo, G&T, comprises best friends Shelley Gordon and Sarah-Jane Thomas. They are taking the country by storm with their fun, playful, and energetic shows covering the greatest modern hits. They released their debut single in September last year entitled Shameless, produced in the USA by multi-Grammy winner Khari “Needlz” Cain.
Tickets are available at Computicket and range in price from R195 to R325. The show starts at 20h00.
