NELSON MANDELA BAY TOURISM UPGRADES TRAVEL APP FOR WIDER REACH

Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism (NMBT) has extended the existing travel app to the windows platform to further increase its capabilities to reach visitors and citizens of NMB digitally. The official Travel Guide to NMB is a mobile travel guide application for iPhone and android devices and now also windows platforms aimed at promoting tourism in the region to tech-savvy travellers.

Chief Executive Officer of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism, Ms Mandlakazi Skefile shared, “Through using the mobile friendly travel guide NMBT wishes to encourage tourists to explore the destination at their own time with their own audio travel guide. It is all about convenience and accessibility to information"

The Travel Guide to Nelson Mandela Bay is the perfect tool to use when exploring the diverse and historic destination. The Official Travel Guide to Nelson Mandela Bay application serves as a constant source of information for local, national and international visitors alike as it is positioned on their mobile device and can be easily accessed at any time with the touch of a button.

There are two guides available on the app, one of Route 67 which has 32 points of interest and the general travel guide which has 96 points of interest in Nelson Mandela Bay.  Should there be a specific point of interest such as art museums or adrenalin activities the app has a built in function to filter and highlight the applicable attraction the user is interested in. This allows the user to find specific points of interest quickly with the improved category filter and search functions.

These points of interest include quality audio guides, images, descriptions and contact details which will guide you around the city, triggering automatically as you approach each point of interest based on your location. There are built in navigation tools that will show you where to go next and you also have the capability of sharing postcards of each point of interest using existing photos from the gallery or posting your own.

Ms Skefile confirms, “Technology plays an important role in the hospitality and tourism industry. We at Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism are looking to showcase the best that our region has to offer through the Official Travel Guide to Nelson Mandela Bay, and we will be including some of the best known attractions and tourist hotspots in the area.”

Download the app and complete the initial setup at home; then you won’t need to use any roaming data while you explore. The Travel Guide to Nelson Mandela Bay is perfect for anyone looking to discover more about this fascinating part of South Africa, in their own time. With no set routes and 100% offline capability, you’ll find it hard not to head out on an adventure.
