NMB Gqeberha Ultra Marathon – Road Closures

The 6th edition of the NMB Gqeberha 50km Ultramarathon will take place on Saturday, 31 January 2026.

The start and finish venue for all races will be Pollok Beach, Summerstrand.

Race Start Times

• 50km Ultra Marathon: 05h00

• 21.1km Half Marathon: 05h30

• 10km Run: 06h00

This will be a mass participation event, open to all registered athletes.

Road Closures & Traffic Arrangements

After careful consideration of athlete safety, the following road closures will be implemented:

• Short access road between Marine Drive and Something Good
  Friday, 30 January: 14h00
  to Saturday, 31 January: 14h00

• Marine Drive (between 8th Avenue and 9th Avenue)
  Saturday, 31 January: 03h00 – 14h00
  Access for Retief Plein residents to exit will be arranged.

• Admiralty Way to Willows
  Saturday, 31 January: 04h00 – 08h00

  • Access via the back gate of NMU will be available for Pine Lodge.

  • Between 04h00 and 08h00, motorists are advised to avoid the section between Admiralty Way and Willows, as athletes will be running on both sides of the road.

  • After 08h00, athletes will remain on the seaside-facing lane only.

Safety & Traffic Management

• Traffic officials will be stationed along the route to manage vehicle movement.

• Trained volunteers will serve as race marshals.

• Any emergencies during the event will be handled by Nelson Mandela Bay Traffic Officials.
