NMBT CEO moves to fill all acting positions
NEW Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism chief executive, Mandlakazi Skefile, this week tackled human resource challenges within the organisation, formalising the positions of 15 staff members, some of whom held acting positions for almost two years.

The new appointments see the permanent employment of four information officers, who were employed on a temporary basis for two years.

They also see – amongst other formalisations – Mandisa Festile taking the permanent position of financial controller; Mandisa Vena occupying the role of marketing officer; Sadie Isaacs moving from services to business tourism coordinator; and Reuann Smith accepting the permanent position of membership coordinator.

“I wanted to act swiftly to make sure that Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism is re-structured and functioning at an optimum. Resolving this issue was high on my ‘to do list’. The quicker we deal with outstanding and on-going issues, the faster we will be able to focus on moving forward,” said Skefile.

Skefile said that it was important that moves were afoot to strengthen the organization. “The morale of 15 staff members will hopefully be lifted by such actions. They can now work with the full knowledge that they are empowered in their positions.

“We will also be better able to function as an organization, market the destination and work with tourism stakeholders, product owners and members now that this issue has, at last, been put to rest.”
