NMBT embraces web, touch technology
05 July 2011
“As we move forward into the future, we need to embrace technologies that will provide us with stronger, more strategic and technologically savvy avenues of marketing the city,” said Titus Chuene, NMBT’s marketing manager.
“The new touch screens will provide information quickly and efficiently as well as giving members the opportunity to connect with Shout Media to advertise on the touch screens.”
Shout Media has developed a network of tourist information kiosks in the Western and Eastern Cape. These units are strategically placed in high traffic areas, have state-of-the-art touch screens and LCD technology, and are designed to be aesthetically appealing.
“The Western Cape network has been created over the past four years and has excellent coverage, for example, seven units at Cape Town International Airport and one on top of Table Mountain, providing a perfect information base for tourists preparing to travel the Garden Route through to Port Elizabeth,” said Monique Human, sales co-ordinator for the Eastern Cape.
Mydestination.com is a leading global travel website covering over 100 destinations worldwide and attracting over 12 million unique visitors a year. Having recently launched the Eastern Cape branch of Mydestination.com, the Port Elizabeth based representatives of this global company will be presenting at the next Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism meeting to showcase this modern, attractive and forward looking website.
“Mydestination.com offers local businesses a highly effective and good value promotional platform, allowing business owners to engage with potential customers,” said Thella Chester, Garden Route and Eastern Cape site representative.
“Every year more and more people are using the web to research, plan and book trips, holidays, leisure activities and even where they will go for their evening meal. Businesses promoting themselves through Mydestination.com are able to reach travellers and potential customers from around the globe, before they even arrive in a destination, thus giving them a competitive edge over companies merely promoting themselves within the destination itself.”
With the addition of the new Eastern Cape branch of Mydestination.com, local businesses have the opportunity to become a part of this global travel brand.
“The introduction of the site gives us all a chance to get the Eastern Cape well and truly featured on the world map and the local Mydestination team are thrilled to be able to address the next Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism meeting to introduce Mydestination.com,” Chester added.
