OCEAN RACING SERIESTM - Season 9 kicks off
It’s that time of year again: the sun stays up longer, the weather becomes warmer, and time to get fit and spend more time outdoors. The popular  Ocean Racing Series™ provides an ideal opportunity for families and friends to enjoy the beachfront whilst competing in fun and exciting events at PE’s premier Beach, Hobie Beach, and keeping fit this summer.

“This will be the 9th season of the Ocean Racing Series™ with eleven race days between now and March next year,” said Michael Zoetmulder, owner of Zports, owners of the Series. “The Sunday morning race days offer an action packed program of 5 separate events to choose from ensuring something suitable for everyone in the family.”
The Series kicks off on Friday evening with a pre-season registration function at News Cafe where all Series registered members will have an opportunity to collect their race packs. Race Day 1 will take place on Sunday morning at Hobie Beach with entries open from 7.30am and the events starting at 9am.

The eleven race days will take place on mostly alternate Sunday mornings with a break during the December holidays and another mini-break in February and Season 9 will feature the Dis-Chem 1km and Dis-Chem 2km Ocean Swims, Zports 5km Beach Run, Swirlers 5km Beach Run and the Crickley Dairy Kids 12u Beach Run/Walk. A once off R50 Series membership fee is charged with morning entry fees of R60 for the Ocean events, R40 for the beach events and just R30 for the kids 1km beach run.

With all events taking place at the same time, registered participants may only take part in one event on a specific race day but may alternate events throughout the Series.

Supported by numerous local companies, the Ocean Racing Series™ not only offers a perfect opportunity to get fit and healthy this summer but is also instrumental in supporting the Reach for a Dream Foundation. Over the past three seasons, the Series has contributed over 10% of the Foundations dream allocation for the entire Eastern Cape.

Also part of the Series are kids from the local townships who are recruited as part of the Masakhane Future Stars program supported by Willard Batteries and Pagdens to afford the kids a regular opportunity to take part in key sports events in our city.

With the sun, sand and plenty of lucky draw prizes on offer at the Series, a packed Hobie Beach is anticipated for the launch of Season 9 this weekend.  Further information available on www.oceanracingseries.com
