The story of South End continues at St Peters

Exciting News for Heritage Enthusiasts! Discover the Newly Revamped St Peter's Heritage and Tourism Site in Nelson Mandela Bay!

On 20 December 2023 the MBDA unveiled the transformed St Peter's site, a proud addition to our city's tourism landscape. Acquired by the MBDA over five years ago, this space has undergone a remarkable makeover with the vision of restoring the pride associated with South End.

Despite setbacks from successive Covid-19 lockdowns, the project is now complete. The old church building has been stabilized, and a picturesque boardwalk now surrounds it. New works of art narrate the maritime and fishing stories ingrained in South End's history, spanning from pre-1960s forced removals to the present.
