PE’S DIRTIEST RACE COMES TO TOWN

Group participation and dressing up is all the fun of the Edge Muck Run

What has to surely be the dirtiest race in the Eastern Cape, the Edge Muck Run taking place on the 22/23^rd April is set to attract close on 1,000 participants who are keen to get down and dirty. It’s not every day the adults can behave like children and the kids can have fun watching their parents rolling in the muck and all in aid of collecting as much second hand clothing as possible for charity.
 
This year’s Edge Muck Run will be hosted at Dawson’s Farm on the corner of Kragga Kamma Road and Lakeside and promises to be a not to forget experience for participants and spectators with around a dozen fun and exciting obstacles along a 5km trail run route (3km for kids 12 years and under). Due to the number of participants taking part in the event, the 5km Muck Run takes place on Saturday afternoon (3pm) and is repeated again at 10am on the Sunday morning. The Kids Edge Muck Run takes place at 2pm on the Saturday afternoon and one parent is permitted to run with the child along the route.

Laughs, fun and spills are the order of the day with participants jumping, climbing, sliding and crawling their way through the bush, mud and water in what has become one of the most exciting social obstacle races in the Eastern Cape. Unique imported Edge Muck Run dog tag medals and an ice cold Powerade welcomes the finishers after they tackle the final obstacle, a 20m mud crawl beneath the barbed wire. 

"This has got be one of our most exciting events which we put together and our staff are working hard at creating the new course at Dawson’s Farm, a perfect fit for this event, " said Muck Run owner Mike Zoetmulder of Zsports Events NPC. "The event is geared for the whole family with festival vibe all weekend and we encouraging everyone to raid their cupboards and donate all unwanted clothing for our charity collection managed by the Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth Sunrise. " 

Entries are expected to sell-out ahead of the event next weekend and soonest registration on the Zsports website (www.zsports.co.za) is encouraged. Vehicle entry into Dawson’s Farm is just R20 per vehicle with the entry signposted from the corner of Kragga Kamma Road and Lakeside. Gates open at 12 noon on Saturday and 8am on Sunday.
