PLENTY OF TRIATHLON ACTION THIS DECEMBER

Undisputed About IT Tri Summer Series ladies champion, Lisa Bright, will be looking to claim her 5th consecutive About IT Series title next month.

The dates for this December’s About IT Triathlon Summer Series have just been announced with 4 exciting race days open to all levels of triathletes wanting to take part in the Sprint Distance which comprises a 750m swim, 20km Cycle and a 5km Run.

"It's with great excitement that we announce the dates for this year's SA Triathlon sanctioned Triathlon Summer Series," said Series Director Mike Zoetmulder from Zsports Events NPC, "This year sees the 5th season with Series naming sponsor About IT who continue to support the growth of the sport in Nelson Mandela Bay."

With a entry fee priced at just R200 per participant and R300 per team (of 3), the Series is well placed to attract participation from around the country this December and will kick off with the traditional Summies to Schoenies triathlon on Friday 16th December. A rare one way triathlon sees participants undertaking the swim at Pollok Beach, cycling to Schoenmakerskop and then running the Sacramento Trail whilst the organisers do a great job ensuring that their race kit is transferred from one venue to the next.

Race 2 of the 4 race Series takes place on Sunday 18th December at Pollok Beach, followed by Race 3 on Wednesday 21st and the Series finale at Port St Francis on Monday 26th December. Each offering an individual and a team category for both licensed and non-licenses Triathlon South Africa triathletes.

Thanks to naming sponsors About IT, the Series will be offering R7,500 in prize money for the overall winners which will be announced after the Port St Francis leg of the Series. 

Online registration for the Series will open on Monday 21st November and interested participants are asked to join the Facebook page (@trisummerseries) to be kept informed of dates, routes and prizes available this season.
