POPULAR AQUELLÉ OCEAN RACING SERIES RETURNS THIS WEEKEND

Hundreds of swimmers from around the Eastern Cape will be expected to take part in this weekend's aQuellé Ocean Racing Series at Hobie Beach.

Africa’s largest family beach event, the aQuellé Ocean Racing Series, returns to Hobie Beach on Sunday for Season 13 with registrations and Premier Membership specials now open.
 
The Series, takes place on mostly alternate Sunday mornings throughout the whole of Summer, and offers something for the whole family with 3 beach events and 4 swim events taking place each race morning starting at 9am and featuring a kids 12 years and under prize giving at 10am and an adult prize giving around 10:20am.
 
For those that prefer staying dry, there’s a 5km Beach Run or 5km Beach Walk and for those between the ages of 1 year and 12 years there’s the Kids 1km Beach Run/Walk. For the swimmers the Series offers a 400m, 1km, 2km and 3km Ocean Swim. Over R20,000 in fantastic lucky draw prizes each race morning is sure to keep families at the beach longer, with the feature lucky draw prize each race day being a R1,500 Greenacres shopping voucher. For the Kids Prize Giving an awesome R500 Greenacres shopping voucher will be up for grabs.
 
Greenacres Shopping Centre have also teamed up with Caltex Eastern Cape to support the Masakhane Future Stars program which ensures up to 60 disadvantaged children are given the opportunity to take part in events like the Ocean Racing Series this Summer, the bulk of these coming from the impoverished Joe Slovo Township.
 
Online registration is encouraged with a registration meet and greet function taking place at News Café on Saturday 7^th October between 2pm and 4pm. Series wetsuit partner Blu Smooth will have one of their top of the range wetsuits as a lucky draw prize at the Meet & Greet. Manual / Late registrations will be subject to an additional once off R50 cash management fee.
