Popular aQuellé Ocean Racing Series returns this weekend

Africa’s largest family beach event, the aQuellé Ocean Racing Series, returns to Hobie Beach on Sunday for round 6 and the first race of 2018.

Now in it's 13th season, the Series which takes place on mostly alternate Sunday mornings throughout the whole of Summer and is unique to Nelson Mandela Bay, offers something for the whole family with 3 beach events and 4 swim events taking place each race morning starting at 9am and featuring a kids 12 years and under prize giving at 10am and an adult prize giving around 10:20am.

Swimmers wanting to get fit for the upcoming triathlon and open water swimming events are welcome to select from any of the following four distances on offer; 400m, 1km, 2km or 3km swim events whilst for those wanting to get fit and trim in 2018 there's always the 5km Beach Run / Walk to consider. Whilst Mom and Dad are taking part children under 12 can take part in the 1km Beach Run and enjoy a welcome aQuellé refreshment at the end and their finishers medal.

This Sunday's race has some special activations in store with 3 of the aQuellé characters racing against the kids as they are in town to promote the three limited edition flavours. Also boosting the lucky draw prizes this weekend is a top of the range wetsuit from Blu Smooth.

Greenacres Shopping Centre have teamed up with Caltex Eastern Cape to support the Masakhane Future Stars program and ensure up to 60 disadvantaged children are given the opportunity to take part in events like the Ocean Racing Series this year, the bulk of these coming from the impoverished Joe Slovo Township.

Online registration prior to Sunday morning is encouraged as late entries on the day are subject to a R50 penalty.
