Pritt Ironkids is coming to Bela Bela!
03 June 2011
Kids between the ages of 6 – 13 years will be able to take part in this fun event and have a great time while participating in a health promoting activity. The Pritt Ironkids is an aquathlon consisting of swim and run components. Participants are divided into two age groups which will complete different distances. Kids in the 6 – 9 age group will swim 30 metres while the slightly older kids in the 10 -13 age group will swim 60 metres with both age groups running 1 kilometre before crossing the very same finish line that their 5150 heroes cross just the day before.
The beauty of the Pritt Ironkids is that each and every participant is a winner. The emphasis is on having fun and therefore no times are taken. The Pritt Ironkids encourages kids to get off the couch, away from the TV and computer screens and get outside to take part in a fun, healthy activity. The event readily promotes an active and healthy lifestyle while fostering a love for sports in kids at an early age. There is no substitute for good old fashioned outdoor fun and the each child will have lasting memories of an unforgettable experience.
The Pritt Ironkids is already an institution in South Africa with the world’s biggest event taking place annually in Port Elizabeth as a side event to the world renowned Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa. The Pritt Ironkids could be the starting point for the next triathlon great! Six-time Tour De France winner, Lance Armstrong, started out all those years ago with Ironkids and we all know where he is today. Who knows, you could be next!
Sunday 14 August, 09:00 am will mark Pritt Ironkids’ Bela Bela debut. Entry fee is only R100 and will see kids receiving a T-shirt, unique finisher medal, goodie bag and certificate.
