Proud Moment for Nelson Mandela Bay

The Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) has recently started their City Renewal Project with the aim of leaving a legacy for future generations through the upliftment and restoration of various sights in Nelson Mandela Bay.

This was celebrated in conjunction with the hoisting of the South African flag at the Donkin Reserve on 28 May 2010. The flag is the biggest flag in South Africa and its location will become a prime tourism landmark in Nelson Mandela Bay. The flag’s presence symbolizes patriotism for the city of Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa and our legacy and heritage.

“We as tourism believe that the renewal project will be a major boost for the city. The MBDA will be providing us with the necessary infrastructure to promote Nelson Mandela Bay as a prime destination and especially one that respects and cherishes its unique and diverse heritage” said Fezekile Tshiwula, CEO of Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism.

The MBDA has also undertaken construction work encompassing refurbishments and extensions to the NMBT Visitors Information Centre at the Donkin Reserve.
