Rugby’s Biggest Party
Summer is here and to celebrate December in the true spirit of things, the city of Port Elizabeth is hosting the world’s biggest party with a fiery side of international Sevens rugby.

Port Elizabeth is the new home to the local leg of the International HSBC Sevens World Series and hosted at the Nelson Mandela Stadium from 9-10 December 2011.

As fanatical 7’s supporters prepare to descend on Mzanzi’s equivalent of the famous Mardi Gras or Rio Carnival, ask yourself why you haven’t already packed your sun-screen, slipped on your supporters gear and booked your ticket to the hottest festival South African has experienced yet.

The stage is set for a scorching international rugby showdown with a twist.  The Bay will be transformed into an electrifying summer carnival with a distinct Eastern Cape flavour. The idea around the party is to entice all people from all walks of life. 7’s fans, sports enthusiasts, families, students and holiday makers alike, will have to re-consider their Durb’s or a Cape Town holiday to experience the thrill of the tournament. And expect carnival musts like mimes, buskers, Samba ladies and more.

Entertainment during the tournament includes top local DJ’s and bands. Together with the fever of the 20 rugby 7’s teams, the vibe around the tournament promises to be a solid 48 hours of rock the party!

Catering to everyone’s budgets and requirements around the tournament, students and matrics who want to gain the most out of their vac-budget can make their way to the 7’s Student Village. Here they’ll be able to participate in all the hustling and bustling PE nightlife, the tournament party as well as safely pitch a tent next to the stadium. This way you’ll be sure to see every try in the speed-filled games, not to mention the chance to be right in the midst of the chance to win awesome prizes courtesy of SA Rugby, Castle and 5fm.

From a destination point of view, PE is known as the big “little” city along with the warm waters of the Eastern coast. It is an ideal halfway stop between Kwazulu-Natal and the Western Cape and it’s widely regarded as the friendliest city in the country. When you’re not watching every second of our Blitz Bokke fan the flames on field, visitors can explore two of the Blue Flag beaches, perfect for whale and dolphin watching. If lounging on the beach is not your style, the adventure and extreme sports fan within you can try sailing and kite-surfing, whilst golfers can head off to Humewood to play the 18 holes at SA’s only true links course.

Apart from being situated close to the surfing towns of Jeffrey’s Bay and St Francis Bay, Addo Elephant National Park, home to almost 500 elephants, is a mere hours drive away from the city centre. Or for a more exhilarating afternoon, the great dunes of Maitlands provides a steep trek up the ridge with only one way down - a high speed slide to the bottom on a body board, sand board or even a piece of cardboard!

If you miss out on the experience of a life time, you’ll be sorry! To catch all the international, adrenaline charged on-field speed of the Blitz Bokke, your summer is sure to rock!
