Smooth sounds of Lira for Bay
AS the winter withers away and spring brings its warm sun and clear skies, Nelson Mandela Bay eagerly awaits incredible sounds of South African afro-soul vocalist, Lira, at The Boardwalk festival area this Sunday, October 9.

NMBT marketing manager Titus Chuene said: “Having an artist like Lira coming to Nelson Mandela Bay is exciting. We have just come out of a great tourism month, celebrating our amazing heritage and music. This concert will be great, right on the heels of our recent Jazz celebrations.”

An artist crafted out of an eclectic mix of genres, Lira has become a household name in South African music. Her album Feel Good catapulted her into the big-time, with the title track becoming one of the most downloaded songs in the country.

Winner of multiple accolades in the South African Music Awards (SAMAs), Lira started performing at the age of 16, and has since has curved a niche with her seamless fusion of R&B, Jazz, Afro pop and bossa influences. Her music is mostly about expression, an ideal that shapes her music ethos.

The concert in Nelson Mandela Bay is part of her countrywide The Captured Tour and will feature many of her well-loved songs as well as those from her latest album Return to Love, which has been described as powerfully emotive and uplifting. The concert will start at 4pm at The Boardwalk.
