Faf Du Plessis batting against Sri Lanka

Hot on the heels of a successful Momentum One Day International in January between South Africa and Pakistan the pace now changes to the five day format at St George’s Park when the second Castle Lager Test Match of the Sri Lanka tour gets under way on Thursday 21 February.

The Standard Bank Proteas Test squad will remain unchanged for the second Castle Lager Test match against Sri Lanka starting at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth on Thursday. Wiaan Mulder and Theunis de Bruyn return to the squad following their Momentum ODI Cup duties for their respective franchises over the weekend. Mulder will also serve as cover for Vernon Philander, who is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the first match in Durban.

 

The training and media schedule ahead of the match is as follows:

 

Tuesday, 19 February

South Africa will hold a training session at St George’s Park from 14h00 – 17h00.

A player will be made available to the media before training at 13h30.

 

Wednesday, 20 February

South Africa will hold a training session at St George’s Park from 09h30 – 12h30.

Faf du Plessis will hold his pre-match press conference after practice at approximately 12h30.

 

Thursday, 21 February – Monday, 25 February

Both teams arrive in Nelson Mandela Bay today 18th February and have practice days on Tuesday (19th) and Wednesday (20th).
Eastern Province Cricket will be running a ticket special of buy one get one free across all tickets except hospitality/suite tickets (limited number of tickets available). U12’s can enter the stadium for free but require a nil value ticket for access which is available from the ticket office.


For anyone who has not experienced the history and ambiance of the world-renowned St George’s Park, a special package has been created for first time visitors wanting to watch the game from a suite. The “Debut” package includes a welcome drink and snack pack on arrival.


Play will get underway at 10:00 on each day of the Test Match. Tickets are available from the St George’s Park Ticket office during office hours Monday – Friday or online at www.ticketpro.co.za.
