SOUTH AFRICAN IDOL KARIN KORTJÉ TO PERFORM SOUL UPLIFTING SHOWS IN PE
Popular SA songstress, Karin Kortjé, who became a household name when she won the third season of SA Idols in 2005, will showcase her amazing talent in two special concerts at The Boardwalk Amphitheatre on 20 and 21 November 2015.
Her shows, 2 Nights of Soul with Karin Kortjé, will feature Salome Damon Johansen, also an established songstress in her own right. Tickets to 2 Nights of Soul with Karin Kortjé are available at Computicket. Both shows will start at 20h00.
“We are delighted to confirm 2 Nights of Soul with Karin Kortjé this November. Music lovers can look forward to soul uplifting performances by two spectacular local divas,” says Vuyiswa King, the Entertainment and Events Manager at The Boardwalk.
From humble beginnings in Grabouw, Kortjé moved to Johannesburg shortly after winning Idols to record her debut album Forever and a Day. The album was recorded and released on 11 November 2006 and went on to receive gold status, selling more than 20 000 copies.
Ten years after winning the popular reality TV talent competition, Kortjé is still a firm favorite amongst millions of South Africans. In a recent TV documentary on SABC 3, Karin Kortje: Idol of Note she once again captured the hearts of ordinary South Africans who sat glued to their television screens as her honest and emotional account of her “rise and fall and rise again” was shared. Her talent and supporters have helped get her back on her feet and she still has a busy schedule performing across the country and in Namibia.
Johansen has been singing since the tender age of 15. She released a single in 2007, “I don’t want to know” which enjoyed significant airplay on Western Cape radio stations. This success was followed with another local hit single, “What I do best”. She later toured with Madam Zingara featuring as part of The Amazing Stepsisters and travelling to Germany, Seychelles, London and South Africa. She also formed part of Kortjé’s Diva Tour and last year performed in Alistair Izobel’s Music Alla Kaap alongside well know South African performers.
