TOP LOCAL ARTISTS VENTURE TO PORT ELIZABETH FOR AFRO GOES EAST TOUR

The rich and diverse sounds of various well-loved African artists will fill the air at The Boardwalk when the Afro Goes East Tour ventures to the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan on 5 November 2016. Afro music lovers are promised an encompassing and exuberant show with an ensemble of their favorite artists. Collaborating for the event are Musa Sukwene, Robbie Malinga, Vusi Nova, Amanda Black and many more.

On the 4th and 6th of November, comedy fans are promised loads of laughter at the Afro Goes East comedy events featuring a crazy lineup of comedians including Siya B, Thenjiwe, Kedibone Mulaudzi, Elton Mduduzi and TD Jokes. Both events are staged by Thiko Events Management, The Boardwalk and Umhlobo Wenene FM.

“The Boardwalk is excited to play host to the illustrious performers and comedians who will be visiting our city as part of the Afro Goes East Tour. The tour kicked off in spectacular fashion at Carnival City in October and by all accounts, it was an awesome show,” says Vuyiswa King, Events & Entertainment Manager of The Boardwalk. 

Richard Ramudzuli Events Manager at Thikho Events said; “We are very excited to host the first of many events in Port Elizabeth.”

Fans are in for a super show with a diverse array of celebrated local artists. Musa Sukwene, known to both Afro music lovers and those of other genres needs little introduction.  Having won South African Idols in 2013, Sukwene has not stopped shining and at the announcement of this year’s top 10 Idols contestants, he performed his brand new hit single, “Mthande” from his album Mr Serious which recently reached gold status. 

Born in Port Elizabeth, Vusi Nova has released three albums, Walk into Light, Did It for Love and Naninina. He has also been nominated for South African Music Awards for Best R&B/Soul/Reggae Album.

Robbie Malinga is a well-known producer and a singer who has worked with various local talents and performed hit duets such as “Sobabili” with Kelly Khumalo, “Thetha Nam” with Zahara and “Kwenzenjani” with Naima Kay to mention but a few.

Amanda Black is a bubbly singer/ songwriter and just all round creative from the Eastern Cape. Also a season 11 former SA Idols contestant, Black recently released her first single called “Amazulu”.

Tickets to the Afro Goes East Comedy shows on the 4th and 6th of November, as well as the Afro Goes East Music event on the 5th are on sale at Computicket. Tickets to the comedy event cost R150 per person while the tickets for the music festival range in price from R195 to R500. The comedy shows take place at The Boardwalk Amphitheatre at 20h00 on 4th November and at 15h00 on 6th November. The music concert will take place at 15h00 on The Boardwalk’s Festival lawns.
