World biggest IronKids to make a splash in Nelson Mandela Bay
29 February 2012
This fun event aims to instil a love of sports in children from an early age encouraging youngsters to get outdoors and participate in a fun event that promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. In today’s digital age, children are spending more time indoors in front of television and computer screens when the real fun is to be had outside. Apart from the obvious health benefits of actively participating in physical outdoor activities, there is always a chance of discovering a hidden talent or passion.
Pritt IronKids is an aquathlon made up of swim and run components. The kids in the 6 – 9 age group swim 60 metres and run 1.2km while those in the 10 – 13 age group swim 100 metres and run 2km. Each and every IronKids athlete is a winner as the focus is on fun, therefore no times are taken. The fun and excitement begins at McArthur Baths as the kids hit the pool before finishing on the very same finish line where their Ironman heroes and heroines will finish the next day.
Entries to this ever popular event are limited so get online to www.ironkids.co.za now to enter! Entry fee is only R150. All entrants receive a Pritt IronKids t-shirt and swim cap and every finisher receives a Pritt IronKids finisher medal, goodie bag and certificate.
One of the world’s greatest athletes, multiple Tour de France champion, Lance Armstrong, started out in IronKids all those years ago. Who knows, we might just unearth the next triathlon great from the Pritt IronKids in Nelson Mandela Bay this April!
