If you have ever wondered what you can do to help protect South Africa’s dwindling rhino population, here is your chance to make a difference. On Thursday, 29 October 2015, local businessman Wayne Bolton will launch his ambitious One Land Love It campaign at a special black tie fundraising event in aid of rhino conservation taking place at The Boardwalk.

The Boardwalk is the venue sponsor for the fundraising dinner and all proceeds raised through ticket sales and a spirited auction will be donated to two deserving rhino conservation organizations. One of them is Care for Wild Africa, a rhino orphanage that does amazing work in rehabilitating rhino calves that are brought to them when the mothers are killed by poachers. The other beneficiary is the SANParks Honorary Rangers who support SANParks and the Rangers who work on the frontlines against rhino poachers and need resources and support in order to carry out their anti-poaching operations.

As part of his One Land Love It campaign, Bolton will cycle some 6 000km across South Africa. During his journey, from 28 November this year to February 2016, he will stop at all 19 of South Africa’s national parks to help raise awareness for the plight of Africa’s rhinos.

The Boardwalk’s General Manager, Brett Hoppé, urges the community to get behind the initiative and have some fun while contributing to a worthwhile cause.

“Join us for an evening of superlative entertainment, inspiring talks by well known speakers and delicious food. This initiative by an ordinary family in our community deserves our support.”

Motivational speakers presenting at the event include Braam Malherbe, the acclaimed extreme adventurer, motivational speaker, conservationist and philanthropist; Vasti Geldenhuys, an acclaimed adventurer who rowed from South Africa to the US with her boyfriend, Riaan Manser; and Ashley Dowds, a South African television presenter known for co-presenting the reality travel show, Going Nowhere Slowly.

Guests will also be entertained by renowned local musician Claire Venn and two of Port Elizabeth’s most sought-after auctioneers, Catherine Elliot and Jacqui Williams, fondly called the 2 Sisters Auctioneers.

Tickets cost R500 per person or R5 000 per table of 10. This includes a sumptuous dinner and an evening of fantastic entertainment. For more information about the black tie event at The Boardwalk, contact Nikki Bolton 041 364 0088 / nikki@oneland.co.za / www.oneland.co.za/black-tie.
