Bay Safaris – Rewild Yourself in the Wild

Bay Safaris is a unique, third-generation family farm where traditional farming has grown into a new kind of rewilding, conservation and sustainable tourism.

Set among beautiful coastal sand dunes and natural bushveld, the farm has been gradually rewilded and turned into a private game farm, while traditional cattle farming remains at its heart. Wildlife and livestock live side by side as part of a sustainable land-use model, showing how farming, conservation and responsible tourism can work together.

Our goal is to restore and protect the natural character of the land while creating sustainable income to help care for it for generations to come. Indigenous wildlife, open landscapes, coastal dunes and cattle all form part of this living environment, creating a real African experience rather than a typical commercial game-park visit.

The coastal dunes are a big part of the Bay Safaris experience. Guests can explore them on foot, learn about the area’s natural and cultural heritage, and enjoy the amazing contrast between the bush, wildlife and coast. The dunes are also perfect for activities like sandboarding and sand surfing.

But Bay Safaris is about more than wildlife.

It’s a place to slow down, switch off from everyday life and reconnect with nature. Walk through the bush, watch wildlife in its natural surroundings, breathe in the fresh coastal air, learn about the fascinating Khoisan heritage of the area, or simply sit quietly and take in the sounds of the African bush.

We like to call it “rewilding yourself” — taking a break from the rush of modern life and spending time somewhere nature sets the pace.

Our experiences can include game drives, guided walks, wildlife encounters, coastal dunes, Ankole cattle, giraffe, honey tasting from our resident bees, sandboarding and sand surfing. Depending on the package, guests can also visit nearby attractions such as Addo National Park and Schotia Safaris.

You can visit for the day or stay overnight in one of our bush cabins, with self-catering and catered options available.
