Founded in 1882, the Port Elizabeth Bowling Club was the first official Bowling Club in South Africa, with the first Green being built at a cost of £48-10s, at this club, and is still being played on today, appropriately named Founders Green.

Hillside House (NMMU Campus)

Built in the early 1830’s for Harbour Master Edward Wallace, the house was extensively altered in about 1881 for the General Manager of the Bank of Africa.
Used for a time as a students residence, the house was restored by the University of Port Elizabeth in 1995 to provide offices.
